On the 6th anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1,138 people and injured many more in 2013, we encourage millions of people to ask brands #whomademyclothes and demand greater transparency in the fashion supply chain.

The more people who ask #whomademyclothes, the more brands will listen. Use your voice and your power to change the fashion industry. Together we are stronger.

Join us during this week by calling out your favorite brands via Social Media with the #WhoMadeMyClothes ~ FashionRevolution.Org

The True Cost - Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion

The Chayah Movement, Zero Waste Washington and Tacoma Tool Library are collaborating to bring the Tacoma community this ground breaking documentary, followed by a brief discussion with industry experts.

What is The True Cost?

This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the fashion industry is having on our world and why we are seeing a shift in the fashion industry. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for clothing we choose to buy? What are we truly investing in?

Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.

Event Attendees will walk away with practical and immediate ways in which they can buy and donate more responsibly. The Chayah Movement will share their favorite ethical brands, connect you to an app where you can see how your favorite brands are rated, and give you a list of places where your unwanted threads can live on past you.

ION Fashion Event - Attendee

The ION Fashion Event: Action with Compassion through Fashion, includes a fashion show and design competition featuring local designers, with money raised benefitting F-factor and Ruby Room, two organizations catering to foster children, homeless youth and disadvantaged teens across Washington State. Open to the public and the only fundraiser the two organizations host each year, ION Fashion’s name is a reference to the brainstorming session organizers had when trying to summarize, in one word, what philanthropy meant to them, with all answers sharing the same -ion suffix.
